Day 347 - Dying of a Broken Heart

There once was a boy who was loved.

So much so that he was given away by his mother.

With hopes that he would find what he needed...

They cradled him in the arms of another.

There once was a boy who was loved.

Long before he ever was, he was a dream

In a mother's heart aching to hold him...

Those many prayers she waited and hoped in.

There once was a boy who was loved.

By two families now - and, many more.

Open and sharing, he knew them all

No secrets, no hiding their love for him at all.

There once was a boy who was loved.

By a big sister who needed a big brother

He was her baby and he slept in her bed

And he always missed her when she left.

There once was a boy who was loved

As much as he loved them,

The dogs, the cats, the lizards.

The bugs, the birds, and the critters...

The rocks, the trees, the hills, the rivers.

There once was a boy who was loved

By his sisters when his family fell apart

But then another left too and it felt like his fault

Even though it wasn't at all.

There once was a boy who was loved

By a world of family and friends

Who traveled the earth to no end

To try to bring him back to them.

But the boy could not love himself

As much as he was loved

The pain was too deep and there was no retreat

Except that he too had to leave.

There once was a boy who was loved.

He still is, and always will be.

Let love kiss those tired tears

Let love soothe those troubled fears.

~ ~ ~

I love you, Clayton.

You were always loved.

I hope you know that now.

I hope Amber and Ray are there to help you find your way back to you.

I hope your broken heart is happy again.

But I wonder now...what will heal mine?

My little big brother is gone.

Nothing's fine, I'm torn.
